Don't Screw This Up
Hey, it’s Zsombor from Emailtorials.
Let’s keep it quick and dive into a crucial topic, flow time delays.
Why Timing Matters
Your flow timing can make or break your results. Great copy and design won’t matter if your email lands too late. Timing is the highest lever in flows, so let’s get it right.
1. Welcome Flow
First email: Fire it immediately. Don’t make customers wait for their discount—it kills conversions.
Next emails: Use 1-2 day delays. For 8-12 emails, this hits the perfect two-week mark.
2. Site Abandon Flow
First email: Delay 4 hours. Anything sooner feels pushy, but this hits when curiosity returns.
Typically, one email works here.
3. Browse Abandon Flow
First email: Fire at 30-60 minutes to capture impulse buyers.
Next emails: 1-2 day delays. Keep them engaged while their interest is still fresh.
4. Cart/Checkout Abandon Flow
First email: Delay 20-30 minutes. This is the sweet spot—quick enough to grab attention, but not intrusive.
Test 30 vs. 60 minutes to see what works for your audience.
5. Post-Purchase Flow
First email: Fire immediately. Thank them, make them feel special, and upsell if possible.
Optional follow-ups:
1-2 days: Social media follow or product recommendations.
4-5 days: A product guide.
21-28 days: Ask for a review.
